Gold is the metal most used for the production of wedding rings. We always use 18 carats in three different colors: White, Yellow and Rose gold. When we speak of carats, we refer to the proportion of pure gold that the alloy contains. So 24 carats is the maximum purity, a reddish golden metal very malleable. To contribute more hardness and resistance to the metal it is alloyed with other metals. The 18k alloy contains 18 parts of pure gold and 6 of other metals; or what is the same, 75%, 750 thousandths. It is the most used in jewelry both for its durability and natural beauty as for its hypoallergenic qualities. In this way 14k will have a proportion of 58.5% purity and 9k will only have 37.5% purity. These alloys are less dense, that is, they weigh less.
